About

G'day everyone. Here on the Artisan Makes channel I create home machine shop videos. With a small workshop and modest equipment, I will show that almost anything can be made with an import lathe, and a small milling machine. I hope you learn something new and enjoy your time here. Video Description

G'day everyone, This video has ben in the works for the past month. I will be making a Surface Gauge to go with my new granite surface plate. The surface gauge will be used to hold my test indicator and it will allow me to accurately measure the squareness and parallelism of my parts. This build was constrained due to a lack of a surface grinder, which is typically used to build these tools, but I believe that I have worked my way around it to make a tool that will serve me well for many years to come. #machining #diy #workshop Timestamps 0:00 - Intro 1:02 - Solidworks Model 1:21 - Machining The Base 5:05 - Machining The Rocker 6:18 - Machining The Brass Pins 6:58 - Test Fit 7:15 - Finishing The Rocker 10:44 - Making The Fine Adjustment Screw 12:26 - Making The Lower Clamping System 15:48 - Making The Rod 18:09 -Making The Top Clamp Assembly 20:50 - Making The Washers 21:56 - Knurling The Fine Adjustment Screw 23:07 - Assembly 24:53 - Testing 25:56 - Bluing The Base With Prussian Blue
