Video Description

Who drives innovation? Institute for New Economic Thinking grantee Mariana Mazzucato makes the case that the state plays an integral role. Speaking in 2012, Mazzucato explains her DEMOS (2011) pamphlet "The Entrepreneurial State," which has since been expanded into a full book that was released by Anthem Press in June, 2013. Mazzucato explains why policies in Europe have failed to create the next Silicon Valley and how the state can be a key player in supporting innovation. Check back next week for a follow-up interview with Mazzucato on her new book! You can buy the book, "The Entrepreneurial State: debunking private vs. public sector myths," here: http://ow.ly/nMX1N
