Marjorie Taylor Greene, the Georgia congresswoman who was once a staunch ally of President Trump and a star in the Maga firmament, has announced that she will resign from Congress at the beginning of next year. Greene, 51, was one of four Republicans who rebelled against the president by signing on to legislation to force the release of files relating to Jeffrey Epstein, the financier and convicted paedophile. She also became increasingly critical of her party’s stance on healthcare insurance subsidies that will lapse at the end of the year and the president’s focus on foreign affairs. Trump called her a “traitor” and promised to endorse a challenger for her congressional seat in next year’s elections.
