Video Description

The 2024 Megavalanche started from the top of the quali track this year due to poor visibility on Pic Blanc. The white out above meant the rescue helicopter would have struggled if and when the inevitable happened... so the top 400 was split in half and the top 200 men funnelled their way down the qualification course to where it meets the main race track above Alpe d'Huez and carries on down through the trees to the finish in Allemond. I fitted some full length Dirty Dan DH mud tyres in anticipation of a messy affair in the clay soil on the bottom half of the course. However, the top half was still fast and rough with plenty of rocks and snow so rolling speed wasn't great and it made for a very interesting race with lots of overtaking and jostling for position. I felt super tired the day before in the E-Mega but after a solid sleep (going to bed at 4pm!) I felt a little bit fresher. I wasn't as spritely as I wanted to be at the beginning but I still had enough strength to keep fighting to the bottom. Enjoy!
