Old-School Diesel Kings: OM603 vs OM606 What’s The Difference?

OM603 and OM606 our two most favorite engines! These engines were very over built by Mercedes for the power they were sold with. The OM603 turbo version is a 3 liter 12 valve capable of handling 400hp with stock internals with bigger turbo and performance injection pump. The OM606 is a newer version of Mercedes diesels with 24 valves and a electric injection pump. The OM606 is capable of handling 600HP with stock internals. For a long time we've been wanting to see the two side by side. Finally we have a OM606 that's disassembled to compare to a OM603. Obviously the cylinder heads are very different but the blocks have alot of similarities. Om606 has bigger stronger rods and better head gaskets. We have some X beam rods for the OM606 Dragcar we're building from BenzForce.com that we quickly show because they are super beefy!
