STRANGE JUST GOT REAL. Jane Ives, also known as Jane Hopper, or as 011, Eleven or simply El, is the psychokinetic protagonist of Stranger Things, perhaps the most ambitous sci-fi horror series of all time. On the surface, she seems to be a modern day Charlie McGee from Firestarter, with a touch of Carrie White thrown in; but studying her entire story reveals more depth. Eleven plays a big part in the Cold War metaphors present throughout the show, she undergoes a powerful character arc involving the horror classic Frankenstein, and she also has an extensive criminal history (which I'll be tracking!). But I think the most important part of her character is what makes her unique from her rival Vecna, her power to harness love instead of fear and anger.
