Welcome back to Mark Mows Mondays. Today we stumbled across a yard that hadn’t been touched in months — completely overgrown and overwhelming. The woman who lives here hadn’t been outside in a long time. She’s been battling depression, and the yard had slowly become too much to face. When we knocked on the door and offered to help, she hesitated. She quietly said, “I don’t think it’s worth it.” We told her we’d take care of everything completely for free, and eventually, she agreed. As we worked through the property section by section, the transformation was impossible to ignore. Paths reappeared, garden beds were revealed, sunlight hit freshly cut grass, birds returned, and little flowers started peeking through again. The space felt alive. Hours later, she opened the door and stepped outside for the first time in months. She took a deep breath… and then she cried — not out of sadness, but because for the first time in a long while, she felt hope again. Looking over the yard, she quietly said, “I didn’t think I could ever enjoy being outside again.” By the time we finished, every path was clear, every garden bed uncovered, and the space she had avoided for so long was finally hers again.
