According to reports, Munir sent four former army officers to meet Imran Khan in Adiala Jail in Rawalpindi. The aim is to prevent protests against Munir in Sindh province by workers of Imran's party, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), so that the atmosphere in the region does not deteriorate further. The move comes amid fears of a possible retaliatory strike from India and growing discontent in Pakistan. However, there has been no official response from Imran or his party on this meeting, and it is not clear whether Imran will cooperate in this matter. Earlier too, in May 2024, there were reports that Munir had secretly met Imran, in which he proposed friendship by forgetting old enmity. The meeting was reportedly to improve his image and get Imran to stop rhetoric against the army. There is a long-standing bitterness between Imran and Munir, which started after Imran removed Munir from the post of ISI chief in 2019.
