Frustrated, he decided to investigate. Turns out, in eight states, that’s now the case. Why? Because animal activists have convinced politicians these pet store bans will stop abusive puppy mills. Alyssa Miller-Hurley, VP of Government Relations at Pet Advocacy Network, says they don’t. Meanwhile, ASPCA makes $300 million a year telling people they save animals, while only spending 2% of its funds on local animal shelters. The animal activists tell people: instead of buying from pet stores, adopt from a shelter or “buy from a responsible breeder!" But shelters don’t always have a dog you want.
