About

I repair neglected power equipment. This channel was started because I found a lack of good content regarding portable generator repair and wanted to document some of the things I came across to help others dealing with similar issues. These videos are detailed and long, but would rather leave the details in to help those who are learning. Do what I do at your own risk. Generator voltages are lethal. Small engines can cause serious injury. Gasoline is explosive and moving parts can cause serious injury. Always use power equipment outside. This is not an instructional video but meant for entertainment. I am not a trained small engine professional or certified in generator repair. Video Description

This very rare and collectible tiny generator was the first effort for Honda in 1964. Weighing only 17 pounds, this four stroke generator set was designed to power the equally tiny Sony solid state TV or a 40 watt light bulb. These were given to a select group of Honda motorcycle dealers in 1964 as a reward for sales performance and were never sold to the public. A subscriber James had this rare Honda e40 generator in his shed. It was in none running condition when it was given to his late father by a friend. Over twenty years ago, his Dad passed it on to James. Will this 1964 Honda e40 Generator run again? Harbor Freight changed the recipe. The bottle previously stated "NON-CORROSIVE". Now it says "CORROSIVE", "do not user on Aluminum". It now damages most carburetors. Recently I have been using Simple Green PRO HD with good results. #HondaPower #GeneratorRepair #Generator #SmallEngineRepair #SmallEngine #DIY #Fixed #Troubleshooting #HowTo 200 hertz, Alternator, Carburetor, Clean Carburetor, Clean Fuel Tank, Clean Points, Compression Test, Condenser, Fixed, Fuel Tank, Generator, Gummed Up Carburetor, Hertz, Honda e40 Generator, Honda's First Generator, How To, How-To, Load Test, Machine Needle, Machine Work, No Spark, Pilot Needle, Points Gap, Points, Power Quality, Rare, Repair, Sand Points, Small Engine, Small Generator, THD, Test Ignition Coil, Timing, Tiny Generator, Troubleshooting, Vintage, Will It Run?, e40 II, e40, e40II, e80 00:00 Introduction 03:23 Adding a Tiny Bit of Oil to a Tiny 21cc Engine 04:46 Compression Test 06:53 Spark Test 08:15 Cleaning the Points 10:49 Do We Have Spark Now? 11:10 Getting Under the Covers 12:49 Points Timing Check 13:25 Testing the Kill Switch 17:50 Ignition Coil Test, Primary and Secondary 19:07 Points Resistance 20:33 Removing the Points and Giving Them a Proper Clean 23:36 Do We See Lightning Yet? 23:54 Bring the Thunder 25:00 Extracting the Carburetor 35:24 Carb Clean 48:44 Putting the Puzzle Back Together 53:28 Carb Test 58:41 The Needle and Seat are not Playing Nice 1:02:34 Carb Test 1:10:08 The Tank 1:13:50 Finishing It Up 1:16:13 A Couple Subscribers to the Rescue 1:18:23 Pilot Needle Test 1:23:06 Cleaning The Tank 1:32:02 Lets Run It Once Last Time Using the Tank 1:33:55 Conclusion
