The milk is spoiled and smells terrible. 2. Expired - Past the date when the food is still safe to eat. The yogurt is expired, so we should not eat it. 3. Rotten - Food that has decayed and is no longer edible. The apples are rotten and have brown spots. 4. Contaminated - Food that has harmful bacteria or chemicals in it. The water is contaminated and unsafe to drink. 5. Moldy - Food that has mold growing on it. The bread is moldy, with green spots on it. 6. Stale - Food that is no longer fresh. The bread is stale and hard to eat. 7. Undercooked- Food that has not been cooked long enough. The chicken is undercooked and still pink inside. 8. Raw - Food that is not cooked at all. Eating raw fish can sometimes make you sick. 9. Rancid- Food, especially fats or oils, that has gone bad and smells unpleasant. The butter is rancid and has mold growing on it. 10. Poisonous - Food that contains poison and is dangerous to eat. Some mushrooms are poisonous and can make you very sick. 11. Burnt - Food that has been cooked too long and has a bitter taste. The toast is burnt and tastes bad. 12. Slimy - Food that feels slippery and unpleasant because it has gone bad. The lettuce is slimy and should be thrown away. 13. Infected - Food that contains harmful bacteria or viruses. The chicken was infected with salmonella. 14. Fermented - Food that has undergone fermentation and may be unsafe if done improperly. The cabbage was fermented, and it smells strange. 15. Pungent - Food with a strong, sharp smell that might indicate spoilage. The cheese is pungent and smells very strong. 16. Discolored - Food that has changed color, indicating spoilage. The meat is discolored and looks gray. 17. Overripe - Fruit or vegetables that are too ripe and starting to decay. The bananas are overripe and have brown spots. 18. Off - Food that smells or tastes strange and might be spoiled. The milk tastes off and is probably bad. 19. Stinky - Food with a strong, unpleasant smell. The cheese is stinky but some people like it. 20. Watery - Food that is too diluted and might indicate spoilage. The soup is watery and lacks flavor. 21. Lumpy or curdled - Food that has lumps in it, which can be a sign of spoilage. The milk is lumpy and should be thrown away. 22. Soggy - Food that is wet and soft in an unappetizing way. The cereal is soggy because it was in the milk too long. 23. Bitter - Food with a sharp, unpleasant taste. The coffee is too bitter without sugar. 24. Tart - Food that is sour in an unpleasant way. The lemonade is too tart and needs more sugar.* 25.
