Elizabeth Warren, (D) Massachusetts: "Kevin Warsh can come in today, the nominee, and say whatever he wants to say, but he's not going to change the fact that Donald Trump has already said repeatedly that the only way anybody was getting that job was if they were going to do what Donald Trump wants them to do. And the reason that matters is an independent Fed is a Fed that makes decisions as best it can based on the economic data, not someone who's there to be a political actor and to try to juice the economy just before an election. Donald Trump is in real trouble with the upcoming election in November because the economy is so bad, and this is his last card to play to see if he can get control over the Fed and get the Fed to dump a bunch of cheap money into the economy and give a short term bubble for it, and try to persuade people that it is not in economic trouble. Now, there's one other problem in particular with Mr. Warsh, and that is that he has not disclosed more than $100 million in his assets. That means that we can't see where conflicts are, and there's no way to verify if he claims that he has resolved those conflicts." ++BLACK FRAMES++ 5. SOUNDBITE (English) Sen.
