A landslide triggered by heavy rain struck an Army camp in Chhaten, Sikkim, on June 1, killing three personnel and leaving six missing. Rescue operations were launched immediately despite tough weather conditions. Meanwhile, over 1,600 stranded tourists were evacuated from North Sikkim using 300 vehicles. Nine people, including a honeymooning couple from Uttar Pradesh, are still missing after a flash flood swept away their vehicle. Families are pleading for more help as rain and strong river currents hinder rescue efforts.
