This game was incredible as Denis played a beautiful series of attacking ideas, including some of the most astonishing bishop moves and sacrifices you will see in a very long time! In the game Denis Lazavik is playing as White and opens with his favorite Queen’s Gambit opening, while Magnus started out with the Queen’s Gambit Declined but quickly transitioned to the Queen’s Gambit Accepted, likely seeking to avoid Lazavik’s Catalan Opening in this game. From there Denis seized control of the center with a very fast e4 advance, and soon Magnus was on the ropes as Denis sacrificed a pawn to get crazy attacking chances against Black’s king! But was Denis Lazavik’s attack too strong to handle, or did Magnus Carlsen hang on and fight back to achieve total victory?
