The Great Anomaly of 2047 was the point of no return. That year, Greenland's ice collapsed in a single summer, releasing 600 billion tonnes (661 billion US tons) of fresh water into the sea. New York, Mumbai, and Shanghai disappeared under 3 meters (10 feet) of ocean. NASA satellites recorded a global sea level rise of 2.3 centimeters (0.9 inches) in a month. It was then that the world understood: there was no more time for debate. The numbers were clear: phosphorus reserves, essential for agriculture, would be depleted by 2060.
