On November 12, 1959, the Central Railroad of New Jersey's yard near Jersey City was running operations as usual. That was until, to their horror, it was discovered that a diesel locomotive 1706 was under power and running away. Within seconds, the engine would plow over the derailer, remain on the tracks, push through the switches, and take off down the mainline. The chaos that followed would result in another diesel, 1506, and her crew, forced to get on the line ahead of 1706, couple to her front, and force her to stop.
