Plant life began to die off, and the denizens of Strahd's domain began to die off from famine. Eventually, an equilibrium was reached. But sealed away, a new threat emerged in Barovia. Not a threat to the body, but to the soul. A malevolent divinity from within the Amber Temple has begun to eat at the souls of sleeping Barovians, pulling them out of the cycle of death and rebirth.
