Video Description

As a result of the First Crusade https://youtu.be/EKxNtJ3UY8Y, new Crusader States were formed in the East: the Kingdom of Jerusalem, the Principality of Antioch, the Counties of Edessa and Tripoli. However, the knights from Europe very quickly plunged into internecine wars and, in effect, destroyed themselves before the Arabs decided to take revenge. In less than a hundred years, these states managed to flourish and decline, divided by the threat of prominent Arab commanders: Zengi, Nur ad-Din and Saladin. This video will take you through the Middle East, where the Crusader States were formed, tell you about the civil strife, dynastic alliances, and significant battles of the time, including the Siege of Jerusalem, the story of which was even used as the basis for Ridley Scott's film "Kingdom of Heaven," and explain how the Crusaders lost everything as a result.
