Video Description

This documentary retraces the secret battle behind the Normandy landings in 1944. The Allies prepared the invasion of Hitler’s “Fortress Europe,” while the Germans, aware of the looming threat, tried to anticipate the exact place and timing. Field Marshal Rommel was tasked with strengthening the Atlantic Wall, but he had to spread his forces along thousands of kilometers of coastline, from northern Holland to the Cotentin Peninsula. Meanwhile, the Allies relied on deception and misinformation to convince the enemy that the landings would occur in the Pas-de-Calais, while secretly preparing the assault on Normandy. The film reveals how military intelligence, diversion strategies, and the element of surprise proved just as decisive as sheer firepower.
