Video Description
This video covers the first operational heavy interceptor missiles deployed by the Soviet Union: the AA-3 Anab, which armed the SU-15 Flagon and the AA-5 Ash, used by the mighty TU-128 Fiddler. I also describe the AA-4 Awl, which NATO thought was operational, but in fact never saw service. Sources (were many and various!) Yefim Gordon's 'Soviet and Russian Aircraft Weapons Since World War Two' is a useful (arguably essential) starting point for anyone interested in the topic. It does, however have contain some fairly bold claims about capabilities and performance that are worth cross checking Here's a useful 'catch all' thread on the old Warthunder forum that has some of the basic details: https://old-forum.warthunder.com/index.php?/topic/487049-history-design-performance-of-all-russian-air-to-air-missiles-ir-sarh-arh/
