A place known for its skyscrapers, its subway system, and even its famous New York style pizza. Sitting in the northeastern region of the United States, it is one of the most iconic cities in America and one of the most famous places in the world. But hidden inside this city is something strange. You see, when you look at the skyline of New York, there is a massive, 2 mile long, gap between Lower Manhattan and Midtown–two of the tallest and busiest districts in the country. So why is that? In today's video, we are going to break down the strange reason behind New York's large skyline gap, along with the decisions that shaped it. We will also look at other parts of the city's urban planning so we can better understand how New York became the way it is and what lessons it can still teach us. But to do that, we first need to go back to where it all started.
