My half-African, half-Chinese friend June Mu @hysteau2s who grew up in Beijing speaks 100% flawless Chinese with a perfect Beijing accent, but also due to his genius linguistic talent speaks French, Spanish, various African languages, and somehow also pitch-perfect English that makes him sound like a New York local (he only came to America and learned English a few years ago). Because he doesn’t look very Chinese, we recently went out to some Chinese markets and people were STUNNED by his perfect Chinese – they thought he was a foreigner and didn’t believe him when he told them he actually grew up in China!
