Video Description

I've had this Horse Chestnut Burl for a couple of years but I have been reluctant to turn it, as I didn't want to waste any of it. I also couldn't bring myself to cut it up, so I decided to purchase a coring system. After getting feedback from other turner's, I got the Oneway coring system and a couple of knives.. Probably not the easiest piece for your first attempt at coring, but it went well, and I think this was the best way to show off this stunning burl.. I wouldn't recommend using a glue block for a tenon on something like this but the burl inclusions on the base made it impossible to turn a decent tenon without losing some of it's best character.. I finished the bowls with Danish oil..
