Otterbox Symmetry Review -I use to like the Otterbox Symmetry -not anymore -the symmetry use to be this awesome blend of TPU and PC shell -it pretty slick but based on what I know now, that design would have been amazing for protection -this clear symmetry is built like every other clear case -PC back, TPU edge -the case edge extends past the pC back -other brands use little feet to prevent scratching, the Symmetry just uses the whole edge -this case looks like it's missing something -do you guys see it? -yea...the lower magsafe array -that got me thinking...does the defender pro have the lower array? -it doesn't... -the grip on this case isn't great -the TPU edge has a slightly rubbery finish -too slick for my liking -this symmetry is only going to add 37g to your iPhone, much lower than the 50g average -overall bulk is tiny as well, at it's thickest, only going to increase it by 49% -let's talk corner drops -iphone felt 8.4g's which is 20% below average -that's good, almost expected given that TPU corners -rotation rate was higher by 27% -BUT the settling rate was average, too much spin I guess -the overall total force going into the case was 20% lower than average -these are really good numbers. They have to be because you're going to be dropping this case like nuts if you use a magsafe grip with it -for face first drops -it fails -it shouldn't but it does and it's because of the thinned out top. -i measure the force required to pop a corner off -the symmetry is better by 50% -but the thin top negates all of that -for camera lump -Otterbox uses a TPU lip -intial impact is average -the settling rate is 11% better -BUT the total force is 11% higher -case has corners that are 1.7mm -back is the same -the build quality of the TPU corners is suspect -you can feel the seam lines -this is the first case in 24 where this has happened -this is the next case I'm reviewing and you barely seen the seam let alone feel it. -despite having a PC back, this case takes 17N to bend 8mm -this case is floppier by 41% -when it comes to MagSafe, pull is basically 0. Doesn't register on my force meter which has a minium spend of 5N -push is 6.5N -the Magsafe strength on this case is at least 50% weaker than the average case -add to the fact that is't missing the bottom array -I can't use a grip with this case -Maybe a wallet -a car mount is way out of the question -even a battery pack is out of the question -whyyyy -the only good thing about this case is are the buttons -the flow thru buttons feel really good -camera control button is covered an unlike the Defender, you have to push the actual button to access your camera -the port cutout on the case is small so I can't use my Amazon basics are heavier duty TB4 cables -and the cutout is sharp so pinky propping it up is annoying with this case -screen access is decent, edges are low but noticeable
