Well, today I’ll insert this electronic pill down where the sun doesn’t shine, to test a device that claims to help you do this. The creators of the new CORE 2 sensor claim you can track your core body temperature, so the temperature deep inside your body, using a sensor attached to your skin. Which is quite impressive if this is true, since your skin temperature is very different from your core body temperature. Tracking core body temperature could be important for athletes, since there is some evidence that training systematically at higher temperatures can help significantly improve your performance. However, tracking your core body temperature is generally not very convenient. Your parents might have used one of these on you for instance when you were a baby to check for a fever. However, exercising with one of these is not very comfortable, so an alternative is an electronic pill like this one, that you can swallow, or insert in your body in the other direction, both of which have their disadvantages. In this video I will take one for the team, and test if the new CORE 2 sensor functions just as well as inserting this pill up my you know what. We will also see if the new generation 2 of the CORE sensor does significantly better than the generation 1. Ow, and you might wonder why I am wearing this full body suit. Well, this is actually a heat suit that allows you to artificially train at higher core body temperatures. CORE actually sent this along with the new CORE 2 sensor, in order to be able to test the new Sensor at higher temperatures, though they might have overdone it a bit in terms of branding. Just to be clear, CORE sent me the sensor to test, but they do not have any influence on the video or testing, and they did not get to see the video before release. OK, before getting to the results, let’s get out of this suit. We will test the CORE 2 sensor under 3 different scenarios: first, of course we will test it during a workout. Specifically, we will test it during indoor cycling with the heat suit. Unfortunately, I injured my groin a bit, so I can only do limited exercises, so no running, though I am not sure I would actually want to go out in a heat suit. Second, I will test the CORE sensor whilst sleeping, since CORE body temperature is quite important in regulating your sleep patterns. And finally, we will test how good the sensor is at measuring my temperature during daily life.
