El presidente estadounidense, Donald Trump, ha puesto sobre la mesa este lunes lo que denomina un plan de paz para Gaza. Aún no está claro que el proyecto cristalice, a falta de la respuesta de un Hamás que tendría que rendirse y entregar las armas y que apenas horas antes denunció que no había recibido una copia del documento. Pero una de las incógnitas ha quedado despejada: tras la reunión de este lunes entre el primer ministro israelí, Benjamín Netanyahu, y Trump, Israel dice aceptar la propuesta de 20 puntos. Y si el grupo palestino rechaza la oferta, el republicano ha dado a su aliado permiso para continuar la ofensiva sobre Gaza, que supera los 66.000 muertos por la invasión del ejército israelí. El plan, hecho público minutos antes de su comparecencia conjunta en la Casa Blanca, prevé la rendición de Hamás, la devolución de todos los rehenes israelíes aún en la Franja —casi 50, la mayoría muertos— y la creación de una entidad provisional de gobierno palestino que estará supervisada por un organismo internacional del que formará parte el ex primer ministro británico Tony Blair y que estará presidida por el propio Trump. “Apoyo su plan para poner fin a la guerra en Gaza, que cumple nuestros objetivos de guerra”, ha declarado Netanyahu en la comparecencia conjunta en la sala Este de la Casa Blanca, en la que no han aceptado preguntas. La propuesta “traerá de vuelta a todos nuestros rehenes, desmantelará las capacidades militares de Hamás, pondrá fin a su mandato político y garantizará que Gaza nunca más representa una amenaza para Israel”, ha sostenido el primer ministro.
