These days I have a huge fondness for anything with “Turbo S” on the back of it, and that’s the name that makes a return in this facelift of the Panamera, replacing the turbo before it. Now though the facelift doesn’t show much change outward, the changes under the skin are big. So I’m going to show you every technical change made, then we’ll drive it to see if it deserves the turbo S namesake. Oh and there’s also a New 4S E #Hybrid to explore too! So let’s get started with the brand new Porsche Panamera! First ever Porsche review on RBR was a Panamera, it was a Porsche #Panamera Turbo S E Hybrid Sport Turismo… and a name that huge betrayed the significant weight of the car too. With a V8 paired with an electric system, ol’ Ron made 670 BHP brute. But that weight of 2300 KG made it the most tame 670 BHP you’ll ever experience, with the power to weight ratio very close to the standard turbo. The turbo suffered too, being very close to the equally exciting GTS. But now the Turbo S namesake returns, with optimised turbos with new turbine layout, entire crankshaft drive, including crankshaft, connecting rods, pistons, timing chain drive and torsional-vibration dampers.... has undergone fundamental optimisation! It produces: 630 BHP, 0-60 in 3.1 secs That’s 80BHP more and 50NM more than the previous Turbo! It allowed test driver Lars Kern to set the new official record in the “executive cars” class on the Nurburgring of 7:29.81 minutes. Steering system and Suspension have also been updated along with the brakes, -“and new sports exhaust system: so much to explore here! Then the new Panamera 4S E Hybrid, a model that accounts for 60% OF UK SALES! It has a V6 TT with electric engine with 560BHP. The Electric range is up by 30% thanks to a new battery too!
