Against these threats they are given hope by the Space Marines. However these are not the only hulking warriors on the front line of Mankind's wars. Today we explore the Ogryn of the Astra Militaria. We begin with a origins of the Ogryn. This occurred during the Dark Age of Technology when humans arrived on harsh, high gravity planets across the galaxy. In the ensuing collapse of this first Galactic Empire, many of these people would be abandoned and spend the following millennia slowly evolving to meet their environments. Be the time of the Great Crusade many had strayed so far from the main human gene pool that they were classified as a new sub-species of Ab Human. Yet rather than purge these forces, the Imperium of Man saw fit to adopt them as a fighting force in their Imperial Guard. These Ogryn would go on to fight in many of the most important battles and campaigns of the era including the conflicts of the Horus Heresy.
