European Union (EU) leaders vowed Monday to fight back against U.S. President Donald Trump’s threat to impose tariffs on their countries. Leaders were in Brussels on Monday for an informal retreat focusing on relations with Russia and the United States. French President Emmanuel Macron told reporters that Europe has to “react” on the trade front. Meanwhile, Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk called possible tariffs “totally unnecessary and stupid.” German chancellor Olaf Scholz, the EU’s largest economy, said the Bloc could respond with its own tariffs if necessary but stressed the importance of finding agreement on trade.
