Legal analysis: The United States Supreme Court has ruled against Ohio Attorney General Dave Yost, regarding his review over citizens’ ballot initiatives. Legally Speaking, this ruling effectively ends a two-year hold-up on a proposed change to the state constitution that would make it easier to sue police officers. With 3 sentences, the highest court in the land protected Ohioans' right to propose changes to our state constitution… by rejected Yost’s request to put a pause on a lower court’s order. Following the ruling, Yost certified the summary language of the "Protecting Ohioans' Constitutional Rights" petition. In a press release announcing the certification, Yost’s office said it was doing so in compliance with a District court ruling “that held Ohio’s nearly century-old ballot initiative process was unconstitutional.” 3News' Stephanie Haney reports: https://www.wkyc.com/article/life/legally-speaking/us-supreme-court-ends-2-year-hold-up-of-ohio-attorney-general-refusing-to-certify-ballot-summary-for-proposed-amendment-to-end-qualified-immunity/95-84328e42-5afc-4ec5-b866-c626de6fcf26 At 3News, we’re here to share the stories that you say matter most to you.
