Video Description
This is a vegetable oil stove that I made using a can with a lid, threaded lamp nipples and cotton rope. It works, but that doesn't mean it's good. Pros: - used vegetable oil is free; - much safer than alcohol in case of a spill; - can be converted into an alcohol stove without modifications. Cons: - Soot. LOTS of soot; - oil makes an incredible mess; - smoke; - flame struggles to start because of the high flash point; - cooler flame than alcohol stoves. There's no comparison, alcohol stoves are simply better. Oil stoves without forced air just "work". The pros aren't enough to outweigh the cons. In my opinion, stick with alcohol stoves and save the oil to make soap, or whatever.
