Well, I wasn't expecting this in Sri Lanka

Today I explore the fort of Galle, Sri Lanka, where I’m surrounded by Dutch architecture, remnants of a time past, and an incredibly eclectic mash of streets that has something of interest around every corner from puppets to tuk tuks turned into elephants. I meet and spend time with the lighthouse keeper of Galle who gives us a history of the lighthouse explain ing the lease used, the beam of light itself, the construction date of the lighthouse and this pleasant man also talks of his own life. We have coffee in one of the most vibrant cafes I’ve ever visited which is themed on puppets making the walls and environment fun and a little creepy. I meet an Australian man who travels Sri Lanka in a rented tuk tuk surfing its beaches, he tells us of the process involved to get your tuk tuk license as well as life behind the wheel of your own tuk tuk. A coin seller explains to us his oldest coin, we get the price of a cocony=ut, we see a tuk tuk turned into an elephant, an old Honda motorcycle converted into a sculpture, and endless things of quirky interest on the streets as we wander around. Yesterday in Colombo trying to get a bus, I met an Indian lawyer who I eventually shared a rented car with to Galle. Juhi was in Colombo at a UN meeting and extended her stay to travel a little in Sri Lanka. I ask Juhi about her work with the U.N. as well as her family, aspirations, work, and what she’s proud of in life. The Galle fort is a great way to spend a day wandering around and has to be the quirkiest town in Sri Lanka.
