Six Week Baby Check Examination - Clinical Skills - Dr Gill The 6-week baby check is one of the first examinations that a newborn healthy infant will have Although the NIPE check will have been performed at birth, the purpose of the six-week checkup is to ensure that nothing has developed or become apparent since that first check on the paediatric ward All new parents are offered a newborn physical examination for their baby. Where the baby's eyes, heart, hips and, in boys, testicles will be checked. It can be a challenging exam, as the history is taken first, highlighting any issues that the mother has noticed in the baby, before progressing onwards to the newborn exam The babies red book must be filled in with the results of the exam as it provides a written record of the infant's medical contacts since birth #drGill #Paediatrics #ClinicalSkills
