About

Jason Kingsley CBE, the Modern Knight, explores the real world of the Middle Ages perfect for fantasy fans, writers, gamers, and creators who want to understand the history behind the swords and castles. We aim to research and test out what it was like for both ordinary people, peasants and townspeople, as well as the nobility like knights and lords. Jason owns and trains his own warhorses, jousts competitively, fights in medieval armour and tests theories practically and sometimes to destruction. Mostly about the historical medieval in England, we occasionally venture into other aspects of history and occasionally fantasy like Lord of the Rings or Dungeons and Dragons. We are a historically researched factual channel useful to writers and gamers as well and people interested in historical documentaries. The aim is to provide accurate, engaging, and evergreen history content for students, teachers, writers, role-players, and anyone curious about how medieval life really worked.

Video Description

Even with the long reach of a lance, the knight had to contend with the enemy archers before he could engage in hand-to-hand combat. Jason is joined by archer Luke Woods to discuss how archers trained, their role in battle and the power of the English longbow. They also accept a challenge to prove their worth as archers in the English army. • Executive Producer: Jason Kingsley OBE • Executive Producer: Chris Kingsley • Senior Producer: Brian Jenkins • Producer: Edward Linley • Director: Dominic Read • Presenter: Jason Kingsley OBE • Subject Matter Expert: Luke Woods • Director of Photography: Ed Mash • Camera: Jo Taylor • Editor: Lindsey Studholme • Stills Photographer: Kasumi • Associate Producer: James Howard • Audio: Frank Newman • Sound Design: Liam Flannigan • Location Medic: Kevin Case • Jewellery by SlinkyLynx (https://www.etsy.com/uk/shop/SlinkyLynx) • Music licensed from PremiumBeat • Additional Camera: Darren Cook • Additional Camera: Neil Phillips • Additional Sound: Elizabeth Carlyon Special Thanks: • Chris Payton • Ed Savage Facebook: www.facebook.com/modernhistorytv/ Twitter: @ModernHistoryTV Falcon Eyes Bi-Color Video Led Lamp Soft Studio Light https://amzn.to/32N2Hei Sony camera https://amzn.to/2PNHcop Tripod https://amzn.to/32QUWEo Wellies https://amzn.to/2wvRylT Work gloves https://amzn.to/39pK1DV Radio mike https://amzn.to/2Tne0H0
