If you work hard enough, you’ll get ahead... or so we’re told. But the reality? Capitalism doesn’t just allow inequality, it depends on it. This system transfers wealth from the people who work for a living to the people who own for a living. It’s designed to protect wealth and power, to keep the majority struggling while the elite thrive, and it hides its coercion behind the language of “markets.” In this conversation, economists Richard D. Wolff and Clara Mattei uncover the built-in exploitation at the heart of capitalism: ✔ Why the word “capitalism” is rarely taught, and often misdefined ✔ How employers control prices, wages, and your economic future ✔ The structural inequality our system must produce ✔ Why both major parties keep it alive ✔ What it would take to move toward real democracy at work Drawing on Marxian analysis and decades of teaching, Wolff explains why capitalism has failed to deliver liberty, equality, and democracy, and how we can imagine something better. 📌 Subscribe & Join the Conversation https://freefreeforum.org 📚 Richard Wolff’s book https://www.democracyatwork.info/understanding_capitalism 🔗 Check out: @democracyatwrk https://www.democracyatwork.info/ GUEST BIO: Richard David Wolff (born April 1, 1942) is an American Marxian economist and professor emeritus of economics at the University of Massachusetts Amherst.
