What if the Christianity we've been taught has almost nothing to do with what Jesus actually said? What if modern Christianity has less to do with the message of  radical love from Jesus, and more to do with the zealous teachings of the ‘apostle’ Paul? In this mind-blowing conversation, former pastor and biblical scholar Aaron Abke drops bombshell after bombshell about the REAL Jesus of Nazareth (and his brothers!)—and why the religion built in the name of Christ is inconsistent with His core teachings.  Important Note: Firstly, this podcast was recorded two days after the Erica Kirk speech. That said, many people in the comments are challenging whether Erica Kirk was being “performative” in her speech, and challenging the genuineness of her request for forgiveness. I welcome these opinions and I have a few things to say: 1) of course it is possible and likely that to some extent the critics are correct in claiming some additional motives were present, but the idea that it is either ENTIRELY disingenuous or ENTIRELY true is a false binary. And yet the effect of that moment was undeniably profound in the collective spiritual conscience. 2) for someone who is not a naturally gifted public speaker to take a stage that big after such a tragedy, does she not deserve some grace if she seemed a bit awkward or “off”? 3) The positive acknowledgment of that one moment of her speech is not a sweeping endorsement of her entire speech. I don’t agree with the idea that we can’t celebrate something positive if there are other aspects we find unsavory. That’s like saying a restaurant is garbage if there is a dish or two that we don’t like. I didn’t like some of the speech, but I LOVED that moment.
