About

This Channel will look to produce Air Accident/Crash Investigation videos analysing the final reports to provide fact based videos with the purpose of using these accidents to learn and develop from. I am a Pilot in the Royal Air Force flying multi engine aircraft. I will use my experience to provide context and understanding to complex Air Crash Investigations. Making these videos aids me in gaining a greater knowledge of aviation but also hopefully keeps you entertained and informed! I also publish 'Curious Pilot Explains' videos which look at specific parts of aviation and explains how and why they happen. If you have any questions or would like a deep dive into a particular incident. Please let me know! *Disclaimer* - The views and opinions expressed on this channel are those of my own and do not necessarily reflect the official policy or position of the Royal Air Force or its members. Video Description

This Air Crash Investigation shows you the events that happened during a test flight of a Dash 7 over Southern England. The Dash 7 airplane had undergone maintenance to get it to an airworthy state after a long time on the ground. On 28 Nov 1998, two very experienced test pilots were given the task of carrying out a 3 engine climb test at V2. For this test, the No1 engine would be shutdown mid-flight and feathered and the remaining 3 engines would then climb for 5 minutes at V2 to certify the aircraft as airworthy. But this test didn't go as planned, as the pilots set up for the test, crucial elements were missed and very shortly the aircraft entered a stall. What followed was a scary and devastating event, highlighting the dangers of test flying and perhaps distraction in the cockpit.
