This is one of the deepest films I’ve seen and it’s packed with lots of comments on culture, race, history and art. There’s a tonne to unpack from it so let’s skip the big intro and just get into the film. We start off with what appears to be tree carvings that talk about musicians who transcend spirtual barriers. of the three walks of life that take focus in the movie. We have the irish poets and singers, the native americans and the west africans. These all used music in a spiritual way and all were displaced from their homes. There comes a warning that this music attracts even and we get the foreshadowing or Remmicks red eyes. This creature is standing outside a party and it all lays the path that the movies going to travel. Hilariously in my research I found out that Coogler actually said Remmick was inspired by Death from Puss in boots the last wish. That was mainly down to the red eyes and how he had a darker side to him.
