No matter how exceptional the business model or how well it's executed, airlines frequently collapse due to factors outside of their control. A few years back, I did a deep dive into why Norwegian is the poster child for this phenomenon, and why it is the unluckiest airline of all time. But the thing is, this misfortune can extend beyond airlines - airplane manufacturers can also pull all the right levers and still fall victim to this fickle industry.
