After a rebel bullet struck Tom Osgood of the 12th New Hampshire Infantry near Drewry’s Bluff along the James River in Virginia on May 14, 1864, he received basic treatment. Then, medical personnel lifted him into an ambulance for further care. He made the ride with a wounded Confederate. They talked. Here's what they said to each other.
