About

Florian Gadsby is a ceramicist working with stoneware and porcelain in North London — here you'll find videos that show process, how pottery is thrown and finished and finally glazed and kiln fired. The videos here show the processes behind his work, such as the throwing and trimming of tableware and more sculptural pieces. For more regular posts, including daily photographs and videos, make sure to follow over on my Instagram: (www.instagram.com/floriangadsby). I restock my online shop around 3/4 times a year, with about 300-400 pieces a time, if you'd like to receive a newsletter about when these go live you can sign up to my newsletter on my website, (https://www.floriangadsby.com/newsletter). I also leave the shop page online, even though it appears as sold out, it usually sells out in a few minutes time, just to give you an idea of what's available and the price range, (https://www.floriangadsby.com/shop). If there's anything else you'd like to know, please do get in touch!

Video Description

Thankfully, this was the last parcel being shipped off this year, which means the workshop is now back into pot-making mode, as compared to being orientated towards packing and shipping pots. So just a quick thanks to everyone who purchased a vessel in my previous restock, I so hope it has arrived in time for the holidays if you meant for it to be a gift, although I’ve been enjoying all the storying you’ve been posting, sharing them as presents to yourself. This is how I wrap a majority of my work, although some vessels require different treatment, bowls can be carefully stacked, a duo of mugs slotted together more efficiently, and so on, but for the most part, each vessel is wrapped in tissue, paper bubble wrap and finally a thick shell of corrugated cardboard. Most of my packaging materials are paper. I still have a few rolls of plastic, ‘fragile’ tape, which I should get through in my next 1/2 restocks, you may also receive a pot wrapped in plastic bubble wrap or it’ll be protected by puffed plastic air pockets, these are always from parcels I’ve received, the protective materials then recycled. Next year I also plan on investigating custom ‘FG’ tape, together with more stationary and a few other little surprises to ship off with my parcels. That’s one more thing on my to-do list for the new year. #wrapping #postage #pottery #ceramics #studiopottery #asmr #satisftying #crafts
