Video Description

Welcome back to the kitchen! This isn’t a typical Old Cookbook Show episode, but today we’re diving into a beloved Newfoundland and Labrador classic: molasses buns. This recipe comes from the 1974 cookbook Fat Back and Molasses, a treasured collection of traditional Newfoundland recipes—still in print today! Join me as I walk through this spiced version of Newfoundland molasses buns—no raisins, no salt pork, but full of warm flavor and maritime history. Whether you remember your Nan baking them in a pan, loaf tin, or cutting them like biscuits, every little cove has their own twist—and I’d love to hear yours in the comments. 🍁 This video includes: Step-by-step recipe for spiced molasses buns Newfoundland food culture and history Reflections from our recent visit to Newfoundland and its icebergs A spotlight on Hope Air and our Give Hope Wings flight across Canada 🛩️ As part of our 2025 campaign, we're raising funds and awareness for Hope Air, a Canadian charity that helps people in remote communities access medical care.
