The history of Yide Road dates back to the Qing Dynasty when it was the location of Guangzhou's southern city wall, known as "Guide Gate." After the wall was demolished, a road was built on its foundation, taking the character "Dé" (德) from "Guide" and adding "Yī" (一), symbolizing "One Heart, One Virtue," hence the name Yide Road.
