While Minecraft is for the whole family, it’s so important to see the world freshly through from a young perspective. A Minecraft Movie is stacked with actors to bring in the folks—Jason Momoa, Jack Black, Oscar nominee Danielle Brooks, and Jennifer Coolidge—but it’s the younger stars of the film that will best translate the wonder of the game to its wide audience of kiddos. Thankfully, director Jared Hess (of Napoleon Dynamite and Nacho Libre fame) cast the talented Emma Myers (Wednesday) and newcomer Sebastian Hansen to bring the themes and heart of A Minecraft Movie to life, front and center. Struggling with their everyday problems and worries, four misfit friends find themselves suddenly pulled through a mysterious portal. On the other side is a bizarre, cubic playground and landscape that thrives on imagination. In order to get home, Garrett “The Garbage Man” Garrison (played by Momoa) and Dawn (Brooks), along with Henry and Natalie—played by Hansen and Myers respectively—must master the world as they journey forth on a magical quest with expert crafter, Steve (played by the iconic Black), and earn the skills they need to thrive in the real world.
