Video Description

Time travel is being reimagined with a magical twist in Ugo Bienvenu’s animated feature debut Arco, produced by Academy Award winner Natalie Portman, who also lends her voice to the film for the English dub. Its premise is unique: rainbows are not illusions of light but time travelers from the future, carrying with them information that humanity has lost along the way. Far from a simple adventure, Bienvenu’s vision uses time travel as a way to confront the damage humans have inflicted on the planet. At the heart of the story is Arco, a curious 10-year-old who can’t wait until the legal age of 12 to test the wonders of time travel. His impatience lands him in the year 2075, leaving him stranded in a future where catastrophic climate changes have pushed humanity into domes and left survival in the hands of androids. It’s in this future that he meets Iris (Margot Ringard Oldra), a girl his own age, who helps him navigate the new world, facing the threat of natural disasters and returning Arco back home together. In addition to Portman, the English-dubbed version features the talents of Will Ferrell, America Ferrera, Flea, Mark Ruffalo, and Andy Samberg. Bienvenu and Portman took the film to this year's Toronto International Film Festival, where they stopped by Collider's Media Studio at the Cinema Center and spoke with Steve Weintraub about their hopeful sci-fi feature. The pair discuss the heart of the film, protecting the narrative of Arco, and respecting audiences. Portman also reflects on her career, including her iconic Saturday Night Live skit with The Lonely Island and discusses what she has in the works with Jenna Ortega on The Gallerist and Lena Dunham's Good Sex. #arco #natalieportman #ugobienvenu #natalieraps #snl For interviews, movie reviews, and more visit https://collider.com FOLLOW US ON SOCIAL https://twitter.com/collider https://instagram.com/collider https://facebook.com/collider
