Three-time Grammy Award-winning singer-songwriter Charli xcx has also established herself as an on-screen force in recent years, with her first handful of feature roles premiering at festivals. Following suit, Charli's latest passion project with A24, The Moment, just celebrated its debut at the 2026 Sundance Film Festival, before opening in theaters to a mixed reception. However, it isn't an opinionated review of the film that gives the artist pause; it's calling this feature a "money grab." "Babe," she laughs, "we paid to bloody make it." "It's all cringe," Rish Shah's (Ms. Marvel) Jamie says in the trailer for The Moment. He's referring to the marketing ploy of the pop star's sixth studio album, "brat," but this remark encompasses the mockumentary's central message. In response to offers she received to make an all-the-rage documentary chronicling her world tour, Charli xcx politely declined, but from those propositions, The Moment was born. Teaming with previous collaborator and first-time feature director Aidan Zamiri (who helmed her "360" video), Charli thought it would be more interesting to offer up a peek inside a world tour machine, while also poking fun at an alternate reality of decisions that could have been. The movie enlists other celebrities like Rachel Sennott (Bottoms) and Kylie Jenner (Keeping Up with the Kardashians), who make exaggerated appearances as themselves, while others, like Alexander Skarsgård (Infinity Pool) and Rosanna Arquette (Pulp Fiction), represent two conflicting influences in Charli's sphere.
