Born in Chatham, Kent, she graduated with a master’s in music from King’s College London and began her career as a session musician on piano. She was a founding member of the synthpop band Art of Noise in 1983. Dudley went on to score music for films and TV, including the television series Jeeves and Wooster (Exton, 1990), Poldark (Horsfield, 2015), and films The Crying Game (Jordan, 1992), Buster (Green, 1988), and The Full Monty (Cattaneo, 1997) for which she won an Oscar for Best Original Musical or Comedy Score. She has twice won the Brit Award for the soundtracks of The Fully Monty and Buster.
