On Monday, the United Nations Security Council adopted the so-called Trump peace plan for Gaza. Resolution 2803 effectively makes the United States and Israel the joint rulers of Gaza, aided by complicit governments from the region and around the world. It creates a so-called International Stabilization Force controlled by the United States and Israel and authorized to use “all necessary measures” to disarm the Palestinian resistance on Israel’s behalf. “This shameful resolution on Gaza by the UN Security Council is fundamentally inconsistent with international law. It is a colonial fantasy which has little precedent in the UN’s history. It will likely fail and must be rejected by all states and individuals,” said independent UN expert Balakrishnan Rajagopal, echoing widespread condemnation. We are joined by international human rights lawyer Craig Mokhiber to discuss the resolution and what may come next.
