Video Description

I mentioned before that Elliott Masie was advertising another videotape during the seventh show of the Traincast - this is that exact tape. In this training video, Elliott does bring up that he hosted a show about Windows 95 on Microsoft Television but doesn't bring up any mention of the word "Traincast", further illustrating how that show was shoved into obscurity. Even the Windows 95 Resource Kit only barely mentions it in one or several pages. The tape also came in a huge plastic case which is about the size of an extensive dictionary. This is because it also contains two additional manuals as well as two floppy disks holding various PowerPoint slides to show employees (the copy that I obtained unfortunately didn't have any floppies present). The tape begins with a cheesy intro containing stock footage of jungle environments coupled with clips of the operating system, almost like one of those wildlife documentaries. Then during the second activity, it's played out like some motivational exercise routine to try and help viewers familiarize themselves with the interface. Video editing in the 90's always had a sense of variety and weirdness to it. The second half of the video is largely uneventful, mainly catering towards higherups of companies to take notes about the migration and to instruct employees to prepare for it. It really does borderline on the Traincast in that regard. I've managed to acquire lots more tapes a while after digitizing this one, so do stick around for those - these ones have got even more historic goodness on them!
