The studio was commissioned by Dire Straits’ Mark Knopfler to be “a monument to past and future technology,” as described by Knopfler in a 2005 interview with Mix Online shortly before the space would open. Its dyad of studios comprise rooms dedicated to classic and contemporary gear, respectively, including a custom-built Neve 88R mixing console alongside a slew of vintage equipment, the likes of which helped bring many of rock music’s most iconic cultural artifacts to life.
